SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Recycle BC will take over curbside recycling services across the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) starting May 1, 2026, expanding residential recycling programs in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, and nearby electoral areas. The transition introduces curbside collection of flexible plastics and non-deposit glass bottles and jars.

To support the expanded program, residents are receiving two new recycling containers. The pink box is designated for flexible plastics, including plastic bags, overwrap packaging, zipper-lock pouches, crinkly wrappers, plastic net bags, and bubble wrap. The grey box will be used for non-deposit glass bottles and jars, including containers from sauces, condiments, and pickled products.
Previously, these materials were accepted mainly at recycling depots and selected retail collection points. The curbside addition is expected to boost recycling participation and reduce landfill waste across the region. Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S) will continue as the collection contractor, although route adjustments may lead to changes in collection schedules.
The new boxes will be collected every two weeks alongside blue-lidded recycling carts. Residents are advised to place flexible plastics inside reused clear plastic bags, stack the grey glass box on the plastics box, and place both at the curb for collection.
