SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): City of Pelham’s Fall Shredding and E-Recycling Event on Saturday, Oct. 4 will provide residents with a unique opportunity to get rid of their old documents and used electronics.
The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Pelham City Hall, 3162 Pelham Parkway, will be open to all Pelham residents, said a city news release. The event is being held in association with Secure Shredding and Recycling, who will provide on-site shredding and e-waste recycling services.
The drive-thru event allows residents to bring up to six boxes of documents. They do not have to remove staples and paper clips. However, binder clips and three-ring binders will not be accepted during the event.
Most electronics items will be accepted for free. There will be a fee of $10 per unit for CRT monitors and hard drives. Flat-panel monitors can be disposed of free. In the meantime, televisions will not be accepted.
The City has been hosting bi-annual Shred and E-Recycling Days for the past five years, which have been marked with increased participation by residents. As per estimates, roughly 600 to 800 residents participate in each event. It provides safe and responsible alternatives to recycle specific materials, in addition to the standard recycling services offered by the solid waste provider.
