Newark to Hold Electronic Waste Collection Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Newark City will hold a free electronic waste collection event, in advance of Earth Day.

According to news release by the Ironbound Business Improvement District (IBID), the event will be held on Thursday, April 18 7.30 AM to 2 PM at the Peter Francisco Park, located between Edison Place and Ferry Street near Penn Station. The event will collect old, unused electronics from city residents. The organizers noted that the electronic devices collected at the event will be safely and responsibly disposed.

The collection event will accept a wide range of electronic items including computer laptops, desktops, televisions, monitors, mice, keyboards and peripherals, CD/VCR/DVD players, small home office copiers/fax machines, MP3 players, photo/video cameras, cables and wires.

However, hazardous waste/liquids, loose batteries, toner cartridges, fluorescent lamps, and appliances like washers, dryers, and stoves will not be accepted. Also, household appliances that contain freon or oil, like refrigerators, air conditioners, and space heaters are prohibited.

IBID will make necessary arrangements for residents and businesses who need any sort of help in delivering their electronic waste to the drop-off location. To know more about pick-up options, they are required to contact the IBID.
