Allegheny County to Host Weekday E-Waste Collection Campaign


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) announced that registrations are now open for weekday e-waste collection campaign in Allegheny County. The campaign will collect electronics for recycling on designated weekdays throughout the month of May this year.

The collection events are scheduled to be held from 11 AM – 2 PM on Mondays- 6th, 13th and 20th May, Wednesdays- 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th in South Park. The residents who need to participate in these events are required to register themselves in advance. The events are being held under the sponsorship of Allegheny County Health Department and Allegheny County Parks Department.

Individuals need to pay a participation fee of $5, which will allow them to drop off unlimited volumes of electronic devices such as cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment and video game consoles/DVD players. There will be additional fee for certain other items. For example, $20 each for flat screen and CRT computer monitors, $30 each for televisions, $40 each for console or rear projection TVs and $5 each for printers.

Darren Spielman, Executive Director, PRC noted that the campaign will allow effective and responsible disposal of a wide variety of items that are not accepted in curbside pickup.
