New Solar Glass Manufacturing Facility to be Built in Georgia

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Solarcycle- the leading solar panel recycling company announced plans to construct a solar glass manufacturing facility in Cedartown, Georgia. The plant will be built at an investment of around $344 million.

According to press release by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, the plant will process recycled solar panels to produce up to 6 gigawatts of solar glass every year. The site will create approximately 600 jobs in various sectors including manufacturing, engineering and research. The construction of the plant is expected to begin later this year, with production expected to commence in 2026.

Suvi Sharma, CEO and cofounder, Solarcycle noted that the company supplies into the raw material market. These materials get remanufactured into final products that re-enter the solar industry. This could prevent solar panel manufacturers from buying finished materials such as specialized solar glass or specialized frames, he added.

Solarcycle has been looking to raise funds to invest in its R&D activities and expand its presence in the U.S. The company had finalized a $30 million funding last March towards expansion of recycling capacity at its Odessa, Texas facility. In addition, it had also received a grant of $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
