McHenry County to Host Tire Recycling Event This Weekend


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): According to an announcement by the McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH), it will sponsor a free tire recycling event for County residents on Saturday, October 22. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the McHenry County Division of Transportation, 16111 Nelson Road in Woodstock. All residents who wish to participate in the event are required to pre-register either online or by calling MCDH Solid Waste Manager.

The registered participants can drop off passenger size and light truck size tires, up to a maximum of 25 tires per household. The number of tires they intend to drop off must be provided at the time of registration. The tire must be removed from the metal rim and must be free of any debris.

The recycling event will not accept tires from commercial customers. Additionally tires from industrial heavy equipment, floatation, semi-truck, farm equipment will also be not accepted. Also, the event will not accept any other types of recyclable materials or waste other than scrap tires.

The County residents could drop off their used tires at several locations all through the year at any of the locations specified in the County website.
