Mat-Su elementary school receives grant to start recycling program

As Big Lake Elementary School gets ready to start up its recycling program this fall, local companies are giving them a $3,000 grant.

The company says the school plans to use the money for a project to collect waste foods. The students are going to give these wastes to farmers and those who have livestock.

Sammy Taylor, the representative who delivered the check to the school, says they hope this program will get the kids involved in the recycling process and be an inspiration to nearby schools and families.

Planning for this new program will take place this summer so they are ready to go when school time rolls around.
