SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Lynchburg’s Department of Public Works has announced its 2026 Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling (HHW) collection event, offering residents a safe and free way to dispose of potentially harmful materials. Scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center, the initiative aims to prevent environmental contamination and promote responsible waste management.

The service is exclusively available to residents of Lynchburg and Campbell County, requiring participants to present photo identification and a completed verification form. Officials emphasize that hazardous items such as acids, batteries, pesticides, and used motor oil will be accepted, along with a wide range of electronics including computers, televisions, printers, and accessories.
However, certain materials are strictly prohibited, including explosives, medical waste, radioactive items, latex paint, and large industrial containers. Residents are also advised to bring items in non-returnable containers and avoid using trailers or box trucks.
Importantly, the HHW collection does not count toward Lynchburg residents’ monthly landfill limits. Authorities encourage community participation to ensure safer disposal practices and reduce risks to groundwater and public health.
