LRS Opened State-of-the-Art Material Recovery Facility

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS) announced opening of new state-of-the-art material recovery facility (MRF) in the company’s 25-acre eco-park in Stockyards neighborhood of Chicago. The facility named ‘The Exchange’ is expected to revolutionise waste management and recycling practices and contribute to reduction of environment impact across the Midwest.

With an initial processing capacity of 25 tons of recyclables per hour, the facility will provide significant boost to waste diversion efforts in the Chicagoland area. It is expected to divert nearly 224 million pounds of recyclables per annum, thus preventing tons of carbon dioxide emissions. At a later stage, the processing capacity will be increased to 35 tons per hour.

The Exchange is anticipated to generate significant positive economic impact on the community. The construction phase had generated 95 jobs. The facility has created over 50 new permanent positions.

To celebrate the grand opening of the new facility, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday, which was attended among others by top company officials, various partners, City officials and media persons.

The facility was constructed with the support from various investors, including Closed Loop Partners.
