SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The leading U.S. recycling service provider, LRS, announced its largest acquisitions to date. The company announced acquisition of Michigan-based companies- Michiana Recycling & Disposal and Modern Waste Systems. The above acquisitions will be with immediate effect. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The above acquisitions adds three state-of-the- art waste and recycling transfer facilities to LRS’s portfolio. It also brings around 100,000 residential, 9,000 commercial and 25 municipal-based customers covering the greater Michigan and Indiana region to its fold. All the nearly 200 employees belonging to these companies will now become part of LRS.
Alan T. Handley, President and CEO, LRS touted the transaction as a pivotal moment in the company’s journey to becoming a national leader in waste and recycling services. LRS remains committed to providing service excellence to all communities and customers assured to carry the legacy of the acquired businesses into the future, he added.
LRS, North America’s fifth largest privately-held waste and recycling company, owns and operates 85 facilities processing more than 3.8 million tons of waste every year. It provides full-time jobs to nearly 2,500 people. The recent acquisition marks the beginning of the company’s 10-year anniversary.
