Johnson County to Host Tire Recycling Event at Three Locations on August 15

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Johnson County Recycling District (JCRD) has announced plans to conduct a countywide tire recycling event on August 15, 2026. The event offers residents a convenient way to dispose of unwanted tires at no cost. The recycling event is open exclusively to Johnson County residents.

The one-day collection and recycling program will operate simultaneously at three drop-off locations across Johnson County. These locations include the Edinburgh Wastewater Department, the City of Franklin Fleet Garage, and the Greenwood Salt Barn. Residents may use any of these sites to recycle their unmanted tires.

The collection drive will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. However, organizers have advised residents to arrive early because each site has limited trailer capacity. Tire collection will end once the trailers are full, even if it is before the scheduled closing time, authorities said.

The event will accept passenger vehicle tires, light truck tires, and smaller tires used on bicycles, motorcycles, mopeds, lawn mowers, and golf carts. Tires mounted on rims will also be accepted. However, large agricultural and commercial vehicle tires, including tractor and semi-truck tires, will not be accepted.

Each household could dispose of up to eight passenger tires.

The event is part of JCRD’s first countywide cleanup event- Blossom Johnson County.
