General Motors to Host Drive-Thru Electronic Recycling Day


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): General Motors (GM) will host a drive-through electronics recycling day, which will allow residents to drop off their unwanted electronic items. The event will be held at its Fort Wayne Assembly facility, 12200 Lafayette Center Road, Roanoke on Thursday, 26th October, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM.

The items accepted at the event include electronics such as computers, laptops, printers, keyboards, mice, cable & satellite boxes, modems, stereo components, DVD players, speakers and small household appliances. Lighting bulbs, small batteries and small scrap metal items will also be accepted. However, scrap items with refrigerant will not be accepted, said the company press release.

Televisions and monitors will be recycled at a cost. The recycling cost for all sizes of flat screen computer monitors will be $2 per item. There will be a recycling cost of $20 per item for 29” and smaller TVs and CRT monitors. The 30” and larger monitors will have a recycling fee of $30 per piece.

The event is part of the company’s efforts to ensure a worldwide sustainable future. The company recycles almost 90% of its manufacturing waste across its global facilities. The Fort Wayne Assembly facility recycles a wide range of materials. Also, it generates almost one-third of its electricity from landfill gas.
