Fall River Launched Pilot Program for Cardboard Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Department of Community Maintenance of the City of Fall River announced launch of a new pilot program for cardboard recycling. Select residents have been provided with new uniquely-coloured recycling carts that are meant to accept only cardboards.

The new recycling carts are blue in colour and have brown lid. The unique colour makes it easy for residents to distinguish it from the bins which accept other recyclable items. It must be noted that the other bins are blue-coloured with black lids.

The pilot program distributed 400 new cardboard carts- 200 to properties in the South along Stafford Rd. in the Spencer Dickinson’s area and the remaining 200 to properties in the North along Meridian St. in the Columbus Drive area. They were also provided with informational packet containing detailed instructions and resources.

On “A” weeks, residents who have received new cardboard cart are required to put that alone for pick up. The regular recycling bins must be put for pickup only on “B” weeks. The first “A” week will commence on 5th June, 2023, said the City press release. It reminded that the new recycling cart and the regular cart should not be placed out together for pickup.

The pilot program will run until December this year, during which period its progress will be closely watched. The decision to distribute more number of carts will be taken accordingly.
