El Paso Electric to Offer Appliance Recycling Program for New Mexico

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): El Paso Electric (EPE) will offer residential customers an opportunity to get rid of their old appliances for recycling throughout the month of April this year. For the first time, the program includes residents in New Mexico as well.

Araceli Perea, supervisor of Energy Efficiency at EPE noted that it is excited to offer its customers in the entire service region the opportunity to recycle their old appliances and earn some extra cash. By participating in the program, customers can have their appliances recycled and also saves money to customers as older appliances consume more energy, he added.

El Paso Electric is conducting the program in partnership with ARCA, an appliance recycler, who in turn will take care of picking up and recycling discarded refrigerators, freezers, and window A/C units.

Those customers who schedule a pickup during the month of April and have the unit picked up by the end of May will receive a rebate of $70. The rebate check will be mailed within 4-6 weeks after appliance pick up. The appliance will be picked up at no charge from your El Paso Electric billing account address.

The appliances must be in working (cooling) order, empty and clean. The program is limited to two units per household, per year.
