Participation in the event is restricted through prior registration. The registration for the event is now open, CERC noted.
The event, held under the sponsorship of the cities of Champaign, Urbana, and Champaign County, is open to people from as many as 22 participating communities. Through the registration process, people are allowed to reserve a 15-minute timeslot to drop off their unwanted electronic items for recycling. Upon completing the registration, they will receive a confirmation via email or text message. A postcard will be sent to them 10-14 days before the event. This postcard will serve as the entry ticket to the event.
There will be a limit of four televisions per person/postcard and a total item limit of seven. The event will accept all types, models, and sizes of televisions, including CRT tube televisions. Small items can be bundled or put into a small box or bag and will be counted as one item only.
There will be volunteers to help unload the items from vehicles. The participants are requested to arrive during the scheduled 15-minute time slot.
