Colorado Awarded Over $35 Million in Recycling Infrastructure Funding

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The state of Colorado has been awarded more than $35 million in funding through the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to local governments and state agencies.

The announcement was made by Governor Jared Polis, House Speaker Julie McCluskie, Rep. Leslie Herod and Senators Chris Hansen and Rachel Zenzinger. The funding demonstrates the state’s ongoing commitment towards clean energy projects. The state has been working to maximize IIJA investments in Colorado by helping local governments to identify appropriate projects to apply for funding.

The grant money is expected to help agencies expand their clean energy projects, provide boost to energy efficiency programs and carry out recycling infrastructure improvements. In addition to helping Colorado meet its climate goals, the funds will create hundreds of jobs in various Colorado communities.

Earlier in 2022, Colorado had passed the Regional Grant Navigator Program, aimed at connecting local governments with resources so as to make them eligible for federal funding. The 35 million federal funding is a win-win for local governments, mainly due to the fact that it will boost the economy through job creation.
