City of Santa Barbara to Hold Workshop on Trash and Recycling Changes

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The proposed modifications to the city's trash and recycling services will be discussed at a public workshop organized by the City of Santa Barbara Clean Community Division and citywide waste carrier MarBorg Industries. The event will take place at the Sustainability & Resilience Office, 801 Garden Street, Suite 200, on Wednesday, January 29 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

MarBorg will start swapping out the current brown garbage carts for new grey wheeled carts as part of the switch to automated curbside trash and recycling services. The color of the container has been chosen in accordance with the specifications outlined in California Senate Bill 1383. There will be no changes to the service schedule or prices.

The replacement of non-wheeled containers with carts for trash, recycling and yard waste will commence in the spring of 2025. The services and rates will remain unaffected.

By early July this year, the full transition to automated curbside pickup service is anticipated. In order to receive service, consumers will need to carry their carts to the curb. For a price, in-place service will be offered in the interim. Additionally, consumers who are elderly or disabled will not be charged fees.

Marborg Industries offers a full range of garbage and recycling services to both residential and commercial clients in the City of Santa Barbara.
