The City will offer four drop-off locations where residents could bring in their old tires for disposal. Each person will be allowed to drop-off a maximum of four tires for free. The City urged the residents to take advantage of the day and join its efforts to prevent illegal dumping of tires.

The locations for free tire drop-off are: District 1: Tricentennial Park  2121 Lake Dr., District 3: Baumhauer-Randle Park  1909 Duval St., District 6: Medal of Honor Park  1711 Hillcrest Rd. and District 7: City of Mobile Recycling Center  4851 Museum Dr.

Casi Callaway, Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Mobile stated that the tires collected during the event will be recycled into useful materials such as playground equipment. The metal parts will be recycled into steel. The City expects the event to be a great win for the community and its environment, Callaway added.

The tires made of rubber takes several years to decompose. Moreover, water collected in tires often become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
