SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of La Crosse, Wisconsin plans to begin picking up real Christmas trees for recycling starting Jan. 3. The collection will extend until Jan. 6 and will not coincide with the regular trash pickup schedule, said the City press release detailing collection and disposal information.

The City residents are required to remove tinsel, ornaments and tree bags and set out the tree on the boulevard by 7:00 AM on January 3rd. Also, there is an option to drop off used Christmas trees. The trees could be dropped off at Myrick Park in the parking lot east of the Gun Shelter. Additionally, residents could bring them to a pile south of the yard waste site, next to the green recycling dumpster at 2000 Marco Drive, Monday to Friday between 7AM and 3PM.
The artificial trees, holiday lights and artificial wreaths could be either placed in city-service recycling cart or dropped off at Harter’s Quick Clean-Up.
The City news release noted that the Yard Waste & Brush Site will remain closed for the season. All items which used to be dropped off there must be taken to the County Landfill.
