City of Georgetown, Williamson County Declared Christmas Tree Recycling Schedule


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Georgetown issued a news release, urging its residents to recycle Christmas trees, boxes and wrapping paper in order to reduce materials ending up in the landfills. The residents are required to remove tree stands, garlands, ornaments and lights. Also, artificial trees will not be accepted for recycling.

Free Christmas tree recycling option offered

The customers of Texas Disposal System within city limits are allowed to place their trees on the curb for collection on regularly-scheduled yard trimmings pickup day. The length of the trees thus placed must be seven feet or less. Trees having length exceeding seven feet must be cut into pieces.

The boxes and wrapping paper items that do not fit in recycling carts can be placed in a larger box next to the cart. Ribbon and bows will not be accepted. The residents can also drop off Christmas trees at the Georgetown Transfer Station, Dec. 16-Jan. 31 free of cost, the news release said.

Starting 26th December till 7th January, 2023, Williamson County residents can dispose of their Christmas trees for free at the Williamson County Landfill, located at 600 Landfill Road in Hutto. Lights and ornaments must be removed from trees. Also, flocked trees will not be accepted.
