City of Jackson to Launch New Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Jackson City Council, by way of a unanimous 8-0 vote, approved setting up of a new Solid Waste Recycling Convenience Center in a meeting held Nov.1. The new recycling centre offers easy access to affordable waste disposal for its residents, apart from ensuring environmental safety.

The recycling convenience centre, located on Conalco Drive, will accept a wide range of items, including No.1 plastics, No.2 plastics, metals, cardboard and paper. It will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM, with a break from 1 PM to 2 PM for lunch. On Saturdays, it will be open from 7 AM to 6 AM, and closed from 1 PM to 2 PM. The centre promises to offer contamination-free recycling, although it does not currently offer curbside recycling services.

According to Robin Chance, Recycling Co-ordinator, the city-centred recycling centre would be supervised. It will have two part-time staff, who will assist residents in categorization of recyclables and answer their recycling queries. It aims to provide a sustainable and cost-effective recycling solution for all residents, he added. Meantime, Mayor Scott Conger noted that the ultimate goal of the City is curbside recycling.
