The newly opened Douglasville Recycling Center accepts an extensive list of items, such as cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, and #1 and #2 plastic containers commonly used by households. Designed for convenience, the site features drive-through drop-off lanes, well-marked collection areas, on-site personnel, and educational displays to guide users in proper material separation. The facility is open not only to Douglasville residents but also to non-residents from surrounding areas.
Mayor Rochelle Robinson praised the opening, calling it “a meaningful investment in Douglasville’s long-term environmental health and quality of life.” She noted that the recycling center represents a major step forward after the city’s curbside recycling program was discontinued during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This new center allows our community to once again recycle responsibly and easily,” Robinson added. “It’s a proud moment for our city and a win for sustainability.”
The Douglasville Recycling Center stands as a significant milestone in the city’s environmental initiatives, promoting greener living and encouraging community participation in waste reduction.
