City of Big Spring Event Collected 2.2 Tons of Electronic Waste

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The City of Big Spring recently held an e-waste recycling event. The event, in partnership with Keep Big Spring Beautiful, was held with the aim of providing its residents with an opportunity to get rid of their unwanted electronic devices in a responsible manner.

The event was held at the Big Sandy Landfill on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The event accepted a wide range of electronic devices including computers and accessories, printers, copiers, televisions, VCRs, DVDs, stereos, cell phones, tablets and cameras. A total of around 2.2 tons of electronic wastes were collected during the event, according to volunteers. The event saw participation of nearly 50 cars, they said.

Liz Hafley, Keep Big Spring Beautiful Social Media Representative noted that a similar event was held almost six months back and that it won’t hold another such event until next year. The event was held following the holidays, since it is common for people to replace their old devices with new ones during holidays. The event has helped to keep the devices out of landfills, Hafley added.

Keep Big Spring Beautiful urged community members to follow its Facebook page, in order to keep a track of the upcoming clean up events.
