SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Residents can now drop off their used electronic devices for free as part of the City of Beacon's new electronic waste collection and recycling program, according to Mayor Lee Kyriacou.
The program is being carried out in collaboration with EWASTE+, an R2/RIOS certified e-waste recycling company that will be in charge of recycling the e-waste that is gathered. The business will make sure that items are recovered responsibly and that personal information is protected.

The city's transfer station located at 90 Dennings Avenue will be the location for the collection of the electronic garbage. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, the transfer station will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Computers, cell phones, laptops, monitors, printers, televisions, keyboards, audio equipment, cables, and storage devices are just a few of the many electronic waste items that the program will accept. Fluorescent lamps, freon-containing equipment, and home hazardous garbage, however, will not be allowed.
Since electronic garbage is one of the solid waste streams with the quickest rate of growth, the City emphasized the significance of recycling it properly. It stated that when disposed of alongside trash, it is hazardous due to the presence of poisonous compounds.
