CalRecycle Unveiled New Revised Draft SB 54 Text


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster):  California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has released revised draft SB 54 regulations last Friday. The feedback on the proposed change will be accepted until June 3. In connection with this, CalRecycle will host a public workshop on Tuesday, May 27.

In March of this year, the packaging expanded producer responsibility law's regulatory process began. Despite expected adjustments, state leaders say the law's implementation timeframe will remain unchanged.

Additionally, Rachel Wagoner, executive director for California at the Circular Action Alliance (CAA), the producer responsibility group in charge of enforcing packaging EPR in California, revealed that she will be joining CAA as an external advisor. Wagoner was employed by CAA in December of last year, it should be mentioned.

According to CAA, the registration portal for California will open to producers August 1. The deadline for registration is set as Sept. 5. The opening date for producers to report their data will be Sept. 15. The deadline for reporting will be Nov 15. CAA will take inputs from EPR implementation in Oregon in order to enhance the portal experience by ensuring smooth and efficient reporting process.
