Brunswick County to Accept Paper Cups for Curbside Collection

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Brunswick County announced expansion of its curbside recycling program to include paper cups. The County is the third community in North Carlina to introduce curbside paper cup recycling.

The move, launched in partnership with the industry association Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI), is expected to benefit around 57,000 households. It must be noted that the curbside recycling program already accepts foodservice packaging items such as pizza boxes, paper bags, PET and PP cups and containers, as well as aluminum foil food packaging.

The County press release reminded residents that all recyclables should be clean and empty when placed in recycling carts. In order to inform residents on what is recyclable through the expanded program, it has launched an outreach campaign yesterday, which features flyers, social media posts and digital animations.

Rebecca Ladson, Brunswick County Solid Waste and Recycling Coordinator said that the County is excited to join the initiative to expand its curbside recycling program. It provides the community with an opportunity to preserve valuable materials by preventing them from ending up in landfills.
