BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield Township is hosting a big truck/electronic recycling event on May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Universal Technical Institute (UTI), 1515 Broad Street, Bloomfield. While kids are sitting in and pretending to drive Bloomfield’s big trucks, parents can drop off e-waste such as computers, monitors, wires, cables, keyboards, phones, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, and small appliances.
“We are encouraging Bloomfield residents to come out and kick start their spring cleaning by properly throwing away any electronic waste they may have sitting around at home. Things like computers, old phones, gaming consoles, maybe even an old iPod you’ve been meaning to get rid of, can all be brought to the event and disposed of,” said Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia. “We’re also excited to be able to display some of Bloomfield’s big trucks for the kids to get to climb around in - it’ll be a nice event for the whole family!”
In addition to accepting e-waste, various impressive Township trucks and electric vehicles will be on display thanks to the Department of Public Works, Police and Fire Departments. The Health Department, Library, Fire Department, and more will also have tables set up for residents to get more information on Township happenings.
“Knowing what to do with unwanted or unusable electronics can be confusing so I am glad we are able to offer a safe, convenient way for Bloomfield residents to dispose of their unwanted electronic items in a way that is environmentally responsible,” said Councilman Nicholas Joanow.
