Berrien County holding recycling event in September

Berrien County residents will have a chance to get rid of unwanted chemicals and other materials in their homes with a community recycling day in September.

The Berrien County Parks Department says they’ll take yard and garden chemicals, used oil, old gasoline, unused medication, medical needles, electronics, spent batteries, spray cans, oil-based paint, electronics, and hard foam at the event.

It will be free to recycle everything, except TVs, monitors, and Freon-containing appliances. Those items carry fees of $20 for TVs, and $10 for monitors and Freon.

The recycling event will be held on September 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Silver Beach County Park.
