SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and Mexico’s National Association of Plastics Industries (ANIPAC) have partnered to boost efforts aimed at strengthening plastics recyclability and advancing the circular economy in Mexico.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two two organisations will join hands in establishing a technical and strategic cooperation towards promoting best practices across the entire plastics value chain. The agreement will also explore opportunities for adoption of international design-for-recycling standards in order to improve sustainability and industry competitiveness.

Accordingly, APR will provide technical tools, recyclability criteria and training programs to help expand markets for post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. Meanwhile, ANIPAC will leverage its broad industry representation to encourage implementation of global recycling standards in Mexico.
The agreement calls for exchange of technical and regulatory information, development of joint projects and promotion of eco-design practices to strengthen recycling capabilities and circular economy initiatives throughout Mexico and the wider region.
Commenting on the development, APR President and CEO Steve Alexander stated that a stronger cooperation across North America is critical to improving recycling infrastructure and accelerating the shift toward circular plastics systems.
