Williamson County to Expand Mattress Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): As part of efforts to preserve the local landfill space, the Williamson County Solid Waste has decided not to accept mattresses and box springs with trash disposal. It has partnered with Spring Back Mattress Recycling to offer an extension to the mattress recycling program.

Williamson County residents could bring their mattresses and box springs for recycling to the following locations: Nolensville Convenience Center, 1525 Owen Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027; Grassland Convenience Center, 1495 Sneed Road, Franklin, TN 37069 and Landfill Convenience Center, 5750 Pinewood Road, Franklin, TN 37064. There will be a recycling fee of $20 per mattress or box spring. No cash will be accepted. Payment may be made through debit or credit cards.

Commercial haulers could also recycle mattresses and box springs at the Landfill Convenience Center only. They are required to separate mattresses and box springs from their load. Also, they will be required to make a payment of $20 disposal fee per item in the load via credit or debit card.

Mac Nolen, Williamson County Solid Waste Director appreciated the community’s cooperation to extend the Williamson County Landfill’s lifespan. Mattresses take up space, are slow to break down, and emit harmful gases as they decompose, he noted.
