Residents of Abingdon looking looking to clean out their house can dispose of recyclable materials on Saturday.
The Town of Abingdon Sustain Abingdon Committee and Keep Southwest Virginia Beautiful have teamed up for an "America Recycles Day" event.
There will be free on-site e-waste recycling as well as free document shredding.
Officials also say donations of gently used shoes, non-perishable food items and supplies for the local animal shelter are all welcome.
Anyone who donates will receive a free t-shirt while supplies last.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 14 at the Abingdon Police Department.
You must be a resident of the Town of Abingdon or an Abingdon business owner to participate. Officials say an ID or utility bill will be required to show proof of address.
The police station is located at 425 West Main Street.
