St. Paul crews battle fire at riverside metal recycling facility

It took about 90 minutes for St. Paul firefighters to extinguish a fire Tuesday evening in an industrial area along the Mississippi River southeast of downtown.

When firefighters arrived at metal recycler AMG Resources around 6 p.m., they found a large pile of recycling material on fire outside the building in the 1300 block of Red Rock Road. The fire had extended to the building, causing damage, according to a press release from the St. Paul Fire Department.

Employees who responded to the scene used heavy equipment to push material out of the building.

There were no reports of injuries. The fire is under investigation.
