Newton residents will be able to dispose of electronics, appliances, and scrap metal during a special recycling event on Saturday, September 12th, 2026. The drop-off for these items will be in the city parking lot at North 2nd Avenue West and West 4th Street North from 8 a.m. until noon.

The disposal of the collected items will be handled by Push Iron & Metals in Kellogg. Newton’s Public Works Department says the company is certified by the Iowa DNR and the EPA to safely de-manufacture appliances, electronics, and Freon-containing units. Other items that will be accepted include TVs, computers, air conditioners, and lawn mowers. A general list of accepted items can be found on this flyer.
