Shredding, Electronic Recycling Event Hosted By Orland Township

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Township will be hosting a recycling event to dispose of unwanted electronics and personal documents, according to a news release from the township.

According to the release, ProShred trucks will be at the Orland Township Highway Department, 16125 S. Wolf Rd., on Saturday Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon. Residents who are participating in the event are allowed a maximum of five banker boxes of shredding. The township noted that the event is not intended for businesses.

"Many people did a lot of cleaning during the stay at home order earlier this year and have old documents they need to destroy," said Supervisor Paul O'Grady, according to the release. "Orland Township is happy to be able to provide a safe way for residents to dispose of those personal documents."

The release states that electronic recycling will also be accepted at the event. Coupons must be purchased for all televisions and computer monitors. Computer monitors and televisions should be measured diagonally and the ones that are smaller than 21 inches, are $25. Those that are 21 inches or even larger are $35.

To purchase Coupons, visit the recycling page here or at the event by credit card only. Residents are asked to bring an I.D. to the event and CDC social distancing guidelines will be in place, according to the release.
