SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Republic Services announced that it invested nearly $1 billion in sustainability initiatives during 2025. This is in line with its long-term strategy to improve environmental performance while advancing its 2030 sustainability goals.

According to the latest Sustainability Report published by the company, it invested $973 million in projects designed to reduce emissions, expand recycling capabilities, and modernize its waste collection operations.

The company launched nine new renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, significantly boosting its ability to convert landfill gas into cleaner fuel. Republic Services also opened the Indianapolis Polymer Center-Blue Polymers Complex and started construction of a third Polymer Center to strengthen plastics recycling capacity.

During the year, the company expanded its electric collection vehicle fleet to more than 180 trucks, supported by charging infrastructure at 32 locations across its operating network.

Republic Services also reported significant progress toward its 2030 targets. Its workplace safety performance was 23% better than the industry average, while employee engagement reached a record 87%. In addition, total fleet emissions have recorded 37% decline since 2017.

The company’s sustainability efforts also earned recognition from several leading organizations durin the previous year.
