MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Residents of the Park Cities area will have another opportunity to dispose of unwanted electronics, sensitive documents, books and household items at a community recycling event on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the SMU parking lot on the south side of Burleson Park in University Park, Texas. The City of University Park lists Burleson Park at 3000 University Boulevard, University Park, TX 75205.
On-Site Shredding for Confidential Documents
Residents can bring a wide range of confidential papers, including tax and medical records, legal documents, financial files, invoices, canceled checks, blueprints, contracts, payroll records, company letterhead and junk mail containing personal information.
Documents containing Social Security, credit card, driver's license or account numbers will also be accepted. Shred-it will collect and destroy the documents on-site.
Electronics and Storage Devices Accepted
The event will also accept a broad range of electronic products, including computers, computer monitors and accessories, televisions, printers, DVD and CD players, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cell phones and chargers, external hard drives, video and camera equipment, gaming systems, cables, power cords and power strips.
Global Asset will collect the e-waste. According to the City of University Park, the company removes data from collected storage devices using Department of Defense security standards.
Books, Appliances, Furniture and Clothing Donations
The Friends of the University Park Library will collect new and gently used books for book sales benefiting the University Park Public Library. Donations should be in very good or excellent condition with intact, clean covers and minimal annotations. Adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books are accepted, but reference books are not.
The Salvation Army will accept donated items that are in working condition and include all parts and accessories. Accepted items include wood furniture, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, dryers and other appliances.
Clothing must not be torn or stained. Donors will receive receipts for tax-deduction purposes.
