Montgomery County DEP to Hold Free Paper Shredding & Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced a free community paper shredding and recycling event scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus (Lot 13), located at the corner of Mannakee Street and Hungerford Drive (Route 355).

Organized in observance of America Recycles Day, the event offers residents a safe and sustainable way to dispose of personal paper documents. Shredding services will conclude promptly at 2 p.m. or earlier if the mobile shredding trucks reach capacity.

Each household may bring up to five small boxes or paper bags of confidential paper materials. Business or commercial documents will not be accepted. Participants are reminded to remove papers from binders and spiral notebooks; however, paper clips and staples can remain attached. Binder clips, rubber bands, plastics, and electronic items are not permitted.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, residents are asked to stay inside their vehicles while trained staff and volunteers collect materials for shredding.

All documents will be securely destroyed on-site by Clean Cut Shredding, a Rockville-based professional document destruction company. For security reasons, participants will not be allowed to observe the shredding process.

This event underscores Montgomery County’s ongoing commitment to promoting recycling and protecting residents’ personal information through secure document disposal.
