LyondellBasell Announced Opening of Plastics Recycling Joint Venture


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): LyondellBasell announced that it has opened a new plastics recycling joint venture (JV) in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province in Southern China, in partnership with Genox Recycling. The new JV will operate under the name Guangdong Genox LyondellBasell New Material Co., Ltd.

The recycling plant will make use of mechanical recycling technology to recycle plastic waste and produce new polymers.

Yvonne van der Laan, LyondellBasell Executive Vice President, Circular and Low Carbon Solutions stated that the announcement demonstrates the progress made by the company on recycling investments. The JV is further to the company’s commitment to support a circular economy for plastics. Furthermore, it is part of the strategy to expand its circular polymer offering in China, he added.

Jingfa Jiang, Chairman of Genox Recycling noted that the company is delighted to partner with LyondellBasell to explore the industry value chain and promote the development of plastics recycling value chain.

To mark the opening of the JV, LyondellBasell made cash donations as well as stationary items made from recycled plastics produced from the new JV to a local elementary and middle school.
