International E-Waste Day 2024 to Focus on Forgotten E-Waste Hoarded in Homes and Offices

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): In less than a month is the 2024 International E-Waste Day. The main goal of this year's event is to get people to look through and discard of outdated electronics that have been accumulated in homes and workplaces.

Global production of electronic trash is estimated to be around 62 billion kg, according to the most recent edition of the UN General E-trash Monitor, which was released in 2022. By 2030, it is expected that the amount of e-waste would have increased at an astounding rate to around 82 billion kg. Remarkably, since 2010, the volume of e-waste has increased five times faster than the rate at which recycling is collected.

The 2024 edition of the program runs under the slogan “Join the e-waste hunt - retrieve, recycle, and revive!”. The companies can join the activities by organizing e-waste-related awareness-raising activities, including social media, TV, and radio campaigns. Organizations can register to become official participants. Individuals are invited to participate in a social media competition.

International E-Waste Day is celebrated every year on October 14th, aimed at highlighting the importance of responsible e-waste management solutions. A total of 195 businesses representing 55 nations participated in the celebrations in 2023.
