Illinois EPA Announced Household Hazardous Waste Events for the Fall of 2025

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The schedule for the eight Household Hazardous Waste collection events scheduled for the fall of 2025 was released by the Illinois EPA. It will have five permanent collecting sites in addition to these one-day gatherings.

Local government entities co-sponsor the collecting events, said Illinois EPA Acting Director James Jennings. The activities give locals a free and safe way to get rid of any harmful household items they may have left behind. He went on to say that these activities will contribute to safeguarding the environment as well as the health of families and neighbors.

Champaign, Adams, Sangamon, McLean, Rock Island, Cook, Christian, and Will counties will host the collecting activities. Opening hours for the event are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is necessary to pre-register.

Latex paint, explosives, propane tanks, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, agricultural chemicals, and commercial garbage will not be allowed at the event.

Packing the products in a disposable box is recommended for residents. It is necessary to keep similar compounds together. They have to make sure the containers aren't leaking and the lids are tight. The boxes may be put in the vehicle's storage compartment or empty trunk, from which staff members on the scene will remove them. Residents are asked to stay in their cars at the collecting location.
