GARNA Announces Community Recycling Events

In response to the lack of public recycling drop-off locations, the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA), has announced two community recycling events.

These events were designed to provide Chaffee County residents with recycling drop-off if they cannot access other options right now.

The first event will take place on Saturday, May 1st, from 9 am to noon in Salida at Marvin Park (900 W. 1st Street). Registration is required and costs $1. Register here: http://bit.ly/GARNA-May1

The next public event is scheduled for Friday, May 21st, from 10 am to 2 pm in Buena Vista at Buena Vista Public Works Shop (755 Gregg Drive). Registration is required for this event as well and costs $1. Register here: http://bit.ly/GARNAMay21

Registrants for these two pilot events can drop off clean No. 1-7 plastics, aluminum, glass and cardboard. Items don’t need to be presorted but must be clean and dry and cannot be in plastic bags.

Volunteers will be on hand to monitor what goes into the recycling bin and prevent contamination.
