Free electronics recycling events coming to CNY: Here’s how to register

Syracuse, N.Y. — If you spent your coronavirus shutdown at home cleaning and now have old TVs, computers, printers and other electronics you want to get rid of, we have good news.

Sunnking, a Rochester-area-based electronics recycler, is holding a pair of recycling collection events in Central New York—its first such events in CNY since the coronavirus pandemic hit in March.

The first will take place in a parking lot at the corner of West Seneca Street and Sheldon Drive in Oswego on Aug. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The second will take place Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the New York State Fairgrounds in Geddes.

Sunnking has changed its recycling process due to the pandemic. Those who wish to recycle their electronics must pre-register and pack their electronics in their trunks or truck beds. Sunnking staff will then unload the electronics to ensure a contactless experience.

Sunnking collects an average of 100 tons of electronics per event.

To register and to see a list of eligible electronics, visit Sunnking.com/events.

It is free to participate, though Sunnking does accept donations to help offset the costs of recycling.
