Fairfax County Launched Survey on Recycling Services

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) announced launch of a survey among its residents on recycling services provided by their hauler.

The survey is intended to gather information on whether the hauler shares educational materials on recycling with their customers. It includes questions such as how often they receive information and also about the type of information received. The survey is available online and will be open until 30th October, 2023.

The survey was developed as part of the Four Touch Points (FTP) initiative- an initiative that aims to boost collaboration and cooperation among residents and businesses to reduce the amount of waste that requires disposal. The initiative focuses on reaching out to the residents on information on how to reduce waste and increase recycling.

According to DPWES, almost 90% of the county’s residents and businesses are associated with private waste haulers in getting their waste collected. The dependence on private waste collection service providers has resulted in several challenges including service disruptions and closure of facilities due to staff shortages.

The DPWES, in a press release yesterday, urged all residents to take the survey, which it said will only take around 2 minutes to complete.
