Event will allow Tuolumne County residents to get rid of old mattresses, tires for free

Tuolumne County Solid Waste, Greater Valley Conservation Corps and the Mattress Recycling Council will host a mattress and tire recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5.

The collection event will accept up to nine passenger tires and up to eight mattresses per family.

All mattresses and box springs must be dry, unsoiled and free of bed bugs. Anyone wishing to drop off more than eight mattresses must contact the Greater Valley Conservation Corps at (209) 588-8992.


Tires must be off the rim. Tractor-trailer or tractor tires will not be accepted.

The event will be held at the Greater Valley Conservation Corp site at 14993 Camage Ave., in the Standard Area. Staff will be on hand to provide education and outreach.
