Eureka Recycling Plant Secured $10 Million Loan to Upgrade Equipment, Boost Sustainability

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Eureka Recycling, a Minneapolis-based community-based non-profit received $10 million dollar loan, which it will utilize towards upgrading the equipment and boosting sustainability.

It is anticipated that the plant will be able to stay current with changes in the industry with the assistance of the financing from Closed Loop Partners, American Beverage, and The Recycling Partnership. The last renovation took place about 10 years ago, and the facility is about twenty years old. It works with a variety of materials, such as cardboard, paper, and cans.

The financing will ensure that the facility installs a new scale in place of the old one, which has degraded due to frequent use. A new floor for the sorting area and the installation of an automatic sorter for paper, cardboard, and other materials are among other planned improvements.

Co-president of Eureka Recycling Miriam Holsinger stated that the plant processes about 800,000 pounds of recyclables per day. Seventy-five percent of everything that the company sorts in Minnesota has been retained. Moreover, almost 90% of items that are sorted remain in the Midwest. Reusable new goods are made from the sorted resources. Holsinger continued, "The recent loan will aid in the construction of a more effective closed loop recyclables system."
