Essex County Electronics Recycling Day Set for Oct. 17
The free Cedar Grove collection will accept computers, televisions and a range of other electronic equipment from Essex County residents who provide proof of residency.
MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Essex County residents can dispose of old computers, televisions and other unwanted electronics during the county's fall Computer and Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, October 17.
The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Essex County Public Works Fleet Management, 99 West Bradford Ave. in Cedar Grove. The collection is sponsored by Essex County and the Essex County Utilities Authority.
“Recycling computer hardware and electronic devices helps remove lead and other dangerous chemicals from our waste stream, which is important for us and our children,” Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. said in a statement.
Computers, Televisions and Other Electronics Accepted
Accepted items include computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, telecommunications equipment, speakers, televisions, keyboards, mainframes, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, toasters, irons and cellphones.
Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms will not be accepted.
Proof of Essex County Residency Required
The collection is open only to Essex County residents. There is no charge to participate, but residents must provide proof of residency at the site.
Commercial businesses are not permitted to drop off materials during the event.
Essex County holds several recycling collection events during the year, including programs for household hazardous waste, electronics, used tires and paper shredding.
