Dane County to Host Shred Fest and Small Electronics Recycling Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Dane County Adult Protective Services has announced that it will host its annual Shred Fest and Small Electronics Recycling Event on June 12.

The event, scheduled to be held at Warner Park, will provide residents with an opportunity to securely dispose of thier sensitive documents and electronic devices. Held as part of Elder Abuse Awareness Month, the event is being held in partnership with Pellitteri, the Area Agency on Aging, the City of Madison, and Dane County’s Highway & Transportation and Waste & Renewables Departments.

According to county officials, residents are encouraged to bring up to three bags or boxes of personal documents, including bank statements, tax returns, receipts, and old checkbooks, for confidential shredding by Pellitteri’s Data Destruction Division.

For the first time, the event will also accept small electronics such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, and e-readers. Dane County Waste & Renewables will be responsible for safe and responsible recycling of the collected electronics items. Any personal information stored on the devices will be protected.

Volunteers will be present at the event in providing assistance to residents in unloading materials and directing them to designated recycling areas.
