County residential electronics recycling is Oct. 16 and 29

OREGON — The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will be hosting two residential electronics recycling events in the coming weeks.  Events will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon and on Friday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These events are by advance permit only and will be held at the County Annex Building at 909 Pines Rd. in Oregon.

Call the OCSWMD at 815-732-4020 or email to acquire a free electronic recycling permit. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number and email address. Permits are limited and are for Ogle County residents only.  Permits will be available for these events up until two days prior to the event or until the event is at capacity.  Permits allow county residents to bring up to seven large items in for recycling and each permit comes with a full list of accepted items.

The OCSWMD is once again holding a food drive during the October and November recycling events. They are asking attendees to bring in non-perishable food items to these events. All food donations will be donated to local food pantries as was done back in 2019.

Accepted items include canned fruits, vegetables, soups, tuna, boxed foods such as cereal, pastas, rice and pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter, and jellies. Items such as bar soap, toilet paper, tooth paste, dish soap and laundry supplies are also accepted. No open or expired items accepted.

These events are for Ogle County residents and not for business or institutional electronic material. If you have business material to recycle, or have other questions regarding electronic recycling in Ogle County, call the OCSWMD at 815-732-4020, visit, or see the OCSWMD on Facebook. The department thanks residents for recycling and remembering to bring food items to share with others in the area.
