City of Hattiesburg to Host Stuff-a-Truck Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Hattiesburg announced its decision to hold a Stuff-a-Truck recycling event, so as to help residents dispose holiday trash in an eco-friendly manner. The event will be held from December 27th to 28th at the Ben McNair Center, 315 Conti St., Hattiesburg from 8.30 AM to 1 PM.

The accepted items include paper, #1 and #2 plastics, cardboard, aluminum cans and un-flocked living Christmas trees.

Nkrumah Frazier, Hattiesburg’s Sustainability Director noted that recycling of the above items, especially during a holiday season, makes a huge difference in several ways. The season results in huge volumes of leftover cardboard, gift-wrapping paper and plastics. Frazier urged residents to bring all these materials to the event for recycling, thereby helping the City to keep them out of landfills.

Meantime, the event will not accept plastics bags, hangers, cords, clothing or linens, glass, Styrofoam, food or liquids.

Also, the City had earlier announced that it will man the Duncan Lake, Fire Station No.8 and Highland Cemetery recycling sites, where discarded Christmas trees will be accepted. The collected trees will be chipped into mulch, which the public can pick up for free from Highland Cemetery on a first-come, first-served basis.
