MONTREAL (RecyclingMonster): Pennsylvania residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents and unwanted electronics at a community recycling event on Saturday, August 22. Readers can find more community collection dates and disposal guidance on the RecyclingMonster homepage.
The collection and recycling event, hosted by State Sen. Rosemary Brown and Rep. Jeff Olsommer, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Evergreen Elementary School, located at 739 Easton Turnpike.
What Residents Can Bring for Shredding
Residents can bring up to three boxes of paper for shredding. Documents must be loose rather than tied or bundled. Also, binder clips should be removed before drop-off.
Electronics Accepted Free of Charge
The event will also accept a wide range of electronic items. Residents could recycle computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, gaming consoles, routers, cameras, DVD players, wires, chargers, hard drives, memory cards, power tools and several appliances at no charge. The collected electronic items will be recycled through a partnership with Mamoth.
Items That Carry a Disposal Fee
Some larger electronics will require a small disposal fee. These include LCD monitors, window air conditioners, televisions and floor copiers.
Additional Collections and Volunteer Support
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office will accept expired or unwanted prescription medications, while American Legion Post 807 will collect old American flags.
Members of the Lake Ariel Fire Company will be available to help manage traffic and assist with collecting materials.
Organizers urged residents to take advantage of the event to get rid of their confidential papers and obsolete electronics responsibly. Events like this remain a practical option for households looking to clear out old records and e-waste through a secure, no-cost community program.
